The Animal Anti-Cruelty League (AACL) recently held a lucky draw in which the winner, Norman Anstey from Johannesburg, won a new VW Polo Vivo.
However, in a charitable turn of events, Anstey donated the car back to the AACL. Sue Currell, Vice Chairperson of the AACL, explained that Anstey's ticket was drawn from a barrel of 1900 entries, by Durban singer and actress Shelley McLean at Gateway last weekend.
Later that afternoon, however, Anstey announced that he was donating the car to the League.
"The Animal Anti-Cruelty League Durban Branch does outstanding work, and I feel that the league's work would benefit far more from the use of the vehicle," he said. AACL Chairperson Judi Gibson stated that the League was overwhelmed by his gesture. "Thank you to each individual who supported the fundraiser and to those you gave their time for the entertainment," she said. |
