A jar with an alleged human foetus was found by a road cleaner on the corner of North Coast Road and Effingham Road on Wednesday, last week around 10am.
According to a 26-year old female, she was busy cleaning the road when another member of the cleaning staff called her. She noticed her fellow cleaner holding a suspicious looking jar in her hand. Upon approaching her friend, she said that she wanted to confirm the contents of the jar before throwing it into the garbage bag.
The cleaner claimed that the jar appeared to contain a red substance with what seemed to be a four-month old foetus.
"When I examined the jar, I could see a baby's feet, eyes, brains and hands. I think someone must have dropped it and intended using it for muti," claimed the cleaner.
The cleaners then immediately contacted the police.
Greenwood Park SAP arrived at the scene and recovered the jar for forensic testing.
"The contents of the jar have been taken in for forensic testing to determine if it indeed is a human foetus and results will be known shortly," said Greenwood Park SAP, Constable Ngwenya. |
