House robberies on the increase

Malvern SAP have recently attended to various cases of house obbery in the Queensburgh area. Malvern SAP Communications Officer, Warrant Officer Radhika Marimuthu, said that in the first incident, a Queensburgh lady was awakened  by a sound in the house .

"The victim was alone as her family  had  gone out . After a while when she did not  hear anything more, she continued  to sleep . A  while later she heard her bedroom open and saw young  male enter . He threatened her with a knife and took her around the house, seizing valuable objects . He then let  himself out  through the front door . The lady was not injured. She later discovered that  the suspect  had let  himself in through an open bathroom window," Marimuthu said.

Marimuthu said that the second house robbery, a man was busy at his computer and his gate was left opened. Three armed men walked into the property.

"They stole valuables and household items and fled. Fortunately, no one was injured," she added.
Marimuthu said that police are investigating and anyone with information is urged to contact the  Chatsworth Cluster Task Team on 031 451 2800 or Crimestop on 086 00 10111.

 Marimuthu further appealed to residents to make sure their gates are locked at all times and to ensure that their possessions are safely kept away.
