An empowering 16 Days

Wentworth Hospital commemorated the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence
Against Women and Children campaign by educating patients on different forms of abuse and where to get help.

This international campaign, which took place between 25 November and 10 December, aimed to raise awareness against the abuse of women and children.

The project was spearheaded by health promotion co-ordinator, Sister Bodha, and Zakiya Harron and Nondumiso Vilakazi, both
from the social work department. They spoke about different forms of violence and how to apply for a protection order. The talk was
given in both IsiZulu and English
so as to cater for all their
patients.

It was also stressed that many women were likely to be abused, but some were more vulnerable than others.
